What Does Helia Mean?

Helia comes from the Greek word hēlios, meaning sun.

We chose the name because it symbolizes light, growth, and life — everything we believe women bring to the world and to the mats. Like the sunflower that turns toward the sun, Helia is about lifting your face toward possibility, blooming where you stand, and radiating strength even in hard seasons.

Helia is more than just a brand — it’s a reminder: you are your own light.

Hi, I’m Lexi, the heart behind Helia.

I’ve spent years on the mats, in the gym, and in the heart of the grappling community — first as a student, then as a coach, always as a believer in the transformative power of this sport. But as a woman in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I often struggled to find gear that truly fit my body, supported my needs, and reflected both my grit and my femininity.

So, I decided to create it myself.

Helia was born from my passion for helping women feel strong, confident, and seen — not just as athletes, but as whole, powerful individuals. Every product we design is a celebration of the women who inspire me daily: the warriors, the dreamers, the fighters, the sisters.
